good words of wisdom

it seems you have done your homework pipelineaudio. that was a very valid and thorough point. the independent market is the answer for those who don't want to sell their souls to the big companies. you are right, the artist can make more independently off of less sells, because the cost of recording and the promotion of their music come straight from the artist's pocket. a lot of middle men are cut out of the equation when it comes to collecting profits. you know your stuff and believe me i have learned from this thread, and i now can look back and say i'm happy you started it. keep the knowlege coming

I think rapping about rapping is corny as fuck, regardless of the history of rap music....

However, the exception would be "Paid my Dues" by 8ball and MGJ, basically about the struggles of "making it" to a successful record deal. Inspirational testimonials would be the exception, in my opinion.....

in truth though, the rap game is on some barry white love song vibe at the moment. so as much as dudes hate on Ja look whats playing on the radio. rapping about rapping isn't really on the radio right now in heavy rotation:

the roots: coming to break you off
fabolous: just can't let you go (or whatever its called)
50 cent: 21 questions
busta with mariah: whatever its called i like the flow
snoop dog feat. pharell: beautiful

now wasn't Snoop the same dude talking about pimps up, hoes down... and we don't love them hoes? ahhh, but that was before they figured out that women buy more hip-hop than men.

Just before anyone pops up wit this I just wanna say that I don't not like ja 'coz he's successful - in my eyes he has always been whack; even when he was supposedly the "happenin' thing" I didn't like him.

Just to elaborate.

Thread's doin' well, BTW.

i like Ja better now, than I did when he first came out.

reason...

some 5'2" dude (or whatever) who ain't no bigger than my 14 year old brother don't put no fear in you when he's rapping about murder. you just know that he would get his manhood ripped if he caught a real grown-man charge.

then again, i once heard someone rhyme... it ain't the size of the playa its the size of the gat.

damn
