Stomp Box That Is Also An Effects Loop? Buildable?

Just another guy, really.
Had a wild idea.

Some amps have line-out jacks, and of course all have at least one input.

Could a stomp box effects unit be made with TWO inputs, one for the guitar, the other connected from the amp's line-out, and the output connected to the amp's input? Would that be, in effect, an effects loop? Would it work? Anything to watch out for when building such a beast?

Related- what would happen if you did a similar thing with an amp that had two inputs? I don't mind trying, just don't want to damage anything...

Potentially a bad idea, if I understand what you are suggesting. If you take a signal from the line out and feed it back into the amp's input, you'd likely have a feedback loop that would send the amp into runaway oscillation. An effects loop takes a line out from the preamp and feeds it back into the amp downstream from the takeout point.

I'm not sure that this is what you're talking about... but feedback loop pedals already exist.

My favorite is the Effector 13 Eye of God.
The Death by Audio Total Sonic Annihilation is pretty good too.

There are probably a half dozen other makes. I use the Eye of God. It is very easy to deafen the audience (or yourself) with.

i think it would depend on how you're using either the pedal or the amp.if you plug into the pedal with no effects then line out from the amp with the unprocessed signal then you would basically be reamping the signal back to the pedal again.but then it would go back into the amp again.it would be an endless loop and i don't see what you could possibly gain from it.using any of the effects from the pedal or the amp would just cause unwanted noise.line out jacks are good for going into a mixer direct or to slave the signal to another amp.

my old fender dual showman was a two input amp.had two inputs for each channel.i would run my drum machine in the clean channel and i went through an effects pedal into the second channel.worked out nice and i didn't need another amp for the drum machine.it was possible to run two guitarists each with their own effects pedal through my amp but it got mixed into the same cab in mono.got a little muddy sounding with two distortions going.
