ADD -- blessing and curse
Ok, I've even tried several different ways (including what the book says) on CakeWalk, and I still can't get the Session drummer to record!

I have an SB PCI card, and I did everything just as the book says, and I still can't get it working.

What I'm doing is assigning session drummer to a MIDI track, but I can't get it to export to audio.

The curious thing is that when I click on the audio properties (the little speaker), and go to properties, and record, there is no option for MIDI. Do I need a new card or something?

I'm running CakeWalk HomeStudio 2002 on Windows 2000

Anyone, PLEASE assist me. Put step-by-step directions on here if you have to, but I'm racking my brain on this!

Many thanks!

Have you tried what BluesMeister suggested in this thread . If so just jot down what you are doing here and we will be able to tell you where you are going wrong.

For the other guys... the test maybe?

You're not gonna get any MIDI data to export as audio. MIDI data is just that.....................data. I didn't look at the threads the other guys posted for you, but I'm sure you'll discover that you need to 'apply MIDI effects', then record the audio from your sound source into the inputs on your sound card. Happens all the time!! :)

Here are the steps I'm taking:

1. Choose a midi track in a "normal" project
2. Assign a session drummer pattern to that track
3. Apply MIDI effects to that track

That's as far as I get. After that I'm totally lost. Nothing works.

I've tried everything that everyone has posted on here, and everything that the book said, and nothing has worked...

Please help!

well, I need to know what showed on these 4 things of yours ?

And you probably do not need to replace your card for MIDI thingee.

Check the taskbar mixer again, Options --> Properties --> recording, and make sure you check the MIDI / internal synth. It may / may not show until you check the checklist box :)

My sound card doesn't have the MIDI option under "record". What do I do in this case?

One other thing:
the "Bank" doesn't show up on mine. It only shows up empty. Will re-installing the driver help that any? I'm assuming that's important.

Okay, so I'm not sure about your card... SB PCI, is it Creative's SB Live! / Audigy ? How do you see it in Control Panel ?
