Here's my latest silly symphony.. Started out with a guitar sound I liked, and ended up doing this instrumental!

If you download it, please leave a comment! :D Any suggestions appreciated.

Nice tune and nice FX on the guitar. I liked the melody at the start and at the end, but the middle sounded too synth for my tastes. Actually, I really liked the melody towards the end, especially that part where the wah guitar switches to the distorted guitar.

The song is crying out for a more definitive solo though. SRV would have built a strong melody like you did, but then nailed a couple of technical passages towards the end too. If your guitar skills can handle it, give it a shot. If your guitar skills aren't there yet, then go practise some more!! :)

Cheers,
Jonathan.

This is recorded well...enjoyed it...
What did you use for drums?...acoustic git sounds nice too...
SRV?...I don't hear the connection...the clav and synth part kind of pulls you away from that...plus the auto wah...but its an nicely done tune.

I know what you mean about a definative solo.. like it needs a highpoint, where you go "wow!". In the eighties I was from the school of "turn on lots of distortion, and flail your fingers as fast as you can, and everyone will be impressed". :D Maybe I'm trying to do the direct opposite now..

Here's another instrumental I posted about a month ago where I do a bit more soloing, though it's also a bit synthy

ok schenkerguy... I agree w/ jon. However...I dug the synth parts...good contrast with that wah shit.
Well recorded too...all sounds crisp, clear...I hate your bass sound tho....screams for real bass player...If you don't play bass...shame on you!
The guitars sound very nice and well recorded.
The song does nothing for me tho man. That's where some of jons comments apply. Not talking fast and distorted here. Melodic development is needed...cohesiveness and creative continuity in melody is needed for the listener to connect with your musical ideas.

LOL! Oh the humanity.

Hope you've got a sense of humour schenkerguy. Don't feel TOO insulted :)

Well, it's a tough crowd!

Back to the drawing board - I'm gonna write another tune with more cohesive-melodic-flowing-developmentalism... and killer licks!

I'll be back... :p

diggin the tune
love the leslie on the gtr in the intro
solid melody in the first 1:40
good key changes
nice wha
lots of texture and effects
nice pan flute
sort of 70’s movie soundtrack
reminds me of Kill Bill vol 2

I got my media player on loop and it’s cool to here the first, say 30 to 40 secs, of the into gtr playing again as a refrain

Hmmm... it is a real bass, and I played it!

I was afraid you might say that.....was hoping not...so ummm.....WTF did bass (direct?) and amp and mic did you use???..I'll give another listen on better speakers and see...my 1st impression was a keyboard bass. I am glad to hear that you played it anyway, no matter the sound.

Hey what happened to the link ?

I listened to it earlier today and I liked the guitar tones. I can't comment any further than that cause the link is gone !

Sorry, link is back up now..

The bass is a fairly decent Korean one, with a Dimarzio Jazz pickup I installed. It goes into my board, then into an Echo Mia souncard, then Cubase. It's processed with Waves eq and compressor plugins..

OK I'll have to listen tonight as I wanted to hear it on my monitors....

I'll get back to ya :)

Well...

You lost me with the synth but the first min. or two you had the Robin Trower "bridge of sighs" thing goin there and it was very cool.

I agree about the bass.

Hey, I thought it was very good overall. I think some of the suggestions are good to move up a notch, but I enjoyed it like it was.

Give mine a listen and post a comment! Thansk!
