Is this mic any good for male vocals. I've heard some stuff of how it does with instruments and i like the smooth tones it gets

I got one and it's not to bad ..... definitely not my first choose out of the microphone locker for male vocals though.

Shure SM7b or the EV RE20 you can find them used at near half price.

alright ill check those out. I may still get the sterling because I like how it sounds when recording guitar and i can get it for 70 if its still available

The 420 will offer you more choices of patterns. If I had to choose that would be the deal breaker for me.
