Ok, my computer soundcard has a stereo input and a stereo output, but only a 1/8 inch jack for each. My mixer goes out with a left and right RCA plug and my monitors have RCA plugs. How do I keep my music in stereo from the soundcard to the mixer? I have tried just a regular 1/8 inch to stereo RCA adapter, but im not accomplishing stereo with this......BTW ive got my Digital Orchestrator going but i still may trash it...i was going in with too hot of a signal but how was i to know since there is no VU meter in DOP (go figure)

Make sure the 1/8" end has 3 sections and two separator rings. This means it's a stereo 1/8" plug. I've had plenty of troubles making these adapter cables work consistently, but it can be done. What happens is that the plug doesn't seat as firmly in the jack as say, a 1/4" plug and then drops either one channel or both as it loses contact with the jack in the appropriate places. For just playing around with digital audio when just getting started, get hold of Cool Edit 96. Beats the crap out of that DOP! Also be aware of what kind of output your soundcard has going to that jack. Some cards have only a line out; some have a speaker out. Some have both.
