stereo microphone techniqe

I found this amazing article a few months ago.. about 1.5 to be exact and it was amazing. It showed how different mix techniqes are warped on playback by speaker set up and the space between the mics, degrees, distance, etc. Can anyone help me find it. I did several searches but there were quite broad results. I remember several links posted and a note by the one i'm looking for saying it was very "theory heavy" or "tech heavy" i believe theory... lemme know

have the diaphragms face 45 degrees or more away from each other
or try the 3to1 (3 inches apart 1 inch from source) distance varies just an exaple

i'm not looking for basic techniqes. what i read was in PDF format i believe and had charts on balancing between the room and performers sound..
