Hello,

I am working on a small podcast setup with a Mackie Onyx 1220i and 4 Electro Voice RE20s. Im trying to run headphone leads into the studio to let the talent have a monitor, and Im having trouble getting a stereo mix out of the aux sends on the board. Its just a TRS connection but I guess its only mono. Is there anything I can do to make it stereo? I have a Rane HC 6 headphone amp but would that convert to stereo? I don't want to use the built in headphone amp because I don't have control over individual mixes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

If you just want the sound to come out of both speakers on the headphones, just use the headphone amp and hit the mono button. That will put the one input into both speakers. If you think they actually need to hear stereo, you would need to use two aux sends.

I just need audio to come out of both speakers in the headphones. I should have clarified. I don't need true stereo. Just sound out of both speakers. There is no mono button on the headphone amp. I tried it thinking it may convert it anyways but it didn't work. Should I try a simple mono 1/4in to stereo 1/8in adapter? Im sure that will work i'm just not sure what the quality will be like.

The Rane HC 6 has a mono button right next to the master volume.

The adapter won't help, you will still only hear out of the left side.

If you really had to, you could get a mono Y cable to split the signal into two, then plug them both into the headphone amp.
