Whats your opinion on these two?

I mostly program my drums and use my DFHS sounds, and have amazing results, but most of the times, I dont have the time to do this.

I know that with groove agent, i can export a midi file and use the DFHsuperior to get the sounds, can i do this with Stylus RMS?

Thanx

I own Groove Agent and like it a lot for composing drum lines. You can pick a style, vary the complexity level in real time throughout the performance, insert accents and fills in real time, in short, it fits my composing style perfectly. It has plenty of various styles to work with. I export the midi tracks and use them to trigger DFH on a separate Giga computer. Groove Agent II has just been released and it has even more styles to work with.

Here's an example - the song is called Streets:

When I researched Stylus it looked to be set up for a different type of workflow and the library of styles seemed more slanted toward urban and hiphop. The stock sound files weren't anything to crow about either but that's a personal thing; besides, you'll be using DFHS. The Stylus web site has a pretty thorough tutorial that should give you a good idea of how the product works. Spend some time crawling though it if you can. I don't remember if you can export the midi tracks with Stylus, probably can.

Hello Phyl,

Thanx for the reply, I checked the track, i suppose you used the sounds that come with Groove Agent, or maybe is my crappy headphones (i'm at work right now).

The drums on 'Streets' are DFH triggered from Groove Agent.

maybe.. i'll have to check them at home , i didnt really liked the sound, but i listened thru a pair of 2$ headhones :)...

i listened to your other songs as well.. really nice ideas.. and good production too...

whats your setup? how do you record?

Thanks for the comments.

All those songs were recorded through an Aardvark Q10. For sampled sounds (strings, piano, pads, etc) I either use GigaStudio or a Roland XV-5050.

Acoustic guitars are recorded through either a Rode NT1 or Oktava MC12.

I just sold the Aardvark and am setting up the new studio with a Midas Venice mixer running into a MOTU HD192. I put a UAD-1 card in my PC to handle effects.

What are you using now? Got any stuff posted?

i'm using the Layla3G with Cubase SX2 and the TC PowerCore for the Effects, I also have a Waves Gold Bundle for mixing and Ozone for Mastering. I have some of my songs fully recorded, but currently I dont have them online, soon I'll have my web page up...

www.konstantine.gr is my home but its currenlty out of work.

For guitars, I have an ESP with EMG pickups and an Ibanez with Dimarzio pu and i I'm playing thrue a PODxt, but hopefully in the following couple of weeks I'll have A Triaxis+2:90 setup or a Mark IV or maybe a Legacy... havent decided yet..

For synths I use Absynth and Pro53 and I just ordered the Garritan Personal Orchestra, for 139$ is like thieving...
