Alright, well in the microphone section you'll find a link about me trying to record steel drums, if your intresteded. Anyways, i rented a small mackie mixing board, an apex 410 condensor, and also used a shure sm58 i already have, and i recorded some steel drums.

The guys in the thread wanted me to post my stuff up, so im going to put up what i've got so far.

keep in mind its really rough, and not nearly done, just showing what i managed to recorded of the steel drums with my current setup, and maybe any feedback on how i should edit/eq the steel drums, or my mix so far.

Im just in the process of uploading, but i wanted to know what the standard practice was here. Just convert to mp3, about 128 quality? They don't get any legal rights to my music or anything like that do they? Cause if i released it, it would be under my name, totaly independant, and i don't want them having anything to do with it.

Nah.........nothing like that. Just get an account at Nowhereradio and you won't have to worry about it at all. Waldo is as straight as there is.

Track 3 has everything recorded accept for vocals. Still needs a lot of work and fine tuning. Besides a little bit of compression the Steel drums are pretty much raw, i was waiting for some input before i messed with them

Track 4 is bare bones, steel drums, and a make shift beat i need to fix up. I'll be recording percussion, basslines, and possible vocals in the near future.

Waldo is the creative end of Nowhere....he's also the everything else of Nowhere...........besides which, he's a nice guy.

Either there is something down at Nowhere right now or you didn't get the songs uploaded right 'cause there are no buttons on your songs for me to play them with.

Nothings down, gotta turn the 'allow on-demand playback from site' and/or the 'allow user/member download' switches on your tunes mate, can do this from your album administration by choosing the appropriate album, then 'edit/add songs', then 'edit info'. Check boxes are on the right.

ok, im trying to do that now, but the site is wiggin out and won't let me change it on two of the songs, only the first one.

after more messing around, it seems to be working. Lemme know if it works or not.

Nothings 'wigging out' on the site. What browser are you using?

pretty cool. without vocals, it was kinda wandering... the drums sounded good. the steel drums were a cool touch.

hmm

the steel drum did turn out pretty good and the guy is a good player.

he is playing reggae in case you dont know... nice modal sounding thing too.

hahahaha.

lose the beat box and play some pots and pans for crying out loud.

anything would be better than that awful drum machine.

you need: guiro (fish) vibra-slap (jawbone of ass) and some other latin percussion.

where are the congas?

:)

no congas as of yet.
and its not a beat machine on track 4, its an old drum loop
sounds aren't bad, just needs to be mixed up.
