...only a few dollars more gets you a brand new Heil PR40 dynamic which will "eat" the Stedman (IMHO)...just a thought...

What other dynamics have you compared the PR40 to? I see you recommending it alot.

...I use a Shure SM7 and an EV RE20 from time to time...the SM7 probably gets the most play, but when I want a dynamic with a bit more "air" and "proximity effect" (like a condenser mic) I give the PR40 a go...it's a nice blend of the best characteristics of both a dynamic and condenser mic...definately worthy of a position in the mic closet... :D

...now if we're checkin' out eBay for great mics that are hard to find, here's a goodie:

I have had some decent tracks in the past using the Stedman N90 for BGV. I've never tried it on lead vox but now I will just to compare to the RE20 and SM7. I'll probably pick up a Heil PR40 based on kidvybes comments.

The Heil mics are very good. On top of that Bob Heil is a very good man with a long track record. In 1970 I purchased the Heil (purple) 6 ch mixer. I had some questions about it and Bob himself got on the phone and really took care of me.

Whatever became of the Stedman Microphones?
I thought they were well-respected at one time?
It appears that they no longer make them at all.

...I believe Stedman makes just the pop-screens and a couple of other specialty items these days...
