Ahhhhh! Shit I thought Dogman meant A place. You know how they name stuff around here. For all I knew it was Some massive mud hole that all the 4x4's get stuck in;) Sorry man.

What band are you in?

F.S.

Well lately I've been feeling like a pretty massive mudhole, but I'm getting over it :D

The band that played out there was a Americana/Blues/Rock trio called Bruce Smith and the Barcodes... He's been playing and recording everywhere from here to Texas for the past 20 years... I just joined him about a year ago...

I have another fusion-type 4 piece called Stormtrain that doesn't venture out too far from the coast... We did The Bite in pdx for the past couple years, but this summer we're not heading too far east...

Nice to meetcha!

:)

Cool!

Though maybe you where in a band I had met and we just didn't know :)
No such luck. Let me know next time you head this way. Not much of a bar guy enven when I drank, but I could probly pop in.

Taker easy;)

Freud...your voice so melts me. :D

I think the distorted guitar is stepping on your vocals just a tad...not much, but a bit. ;)

Those lyrics are excellent.

The talent in this place just keeps on amazing me.

Stash...great job on the melody and playing.

The fade out is so good. It fits perfect with the feel of the song.

The talent in this place just keeps on amazing me...oh, did I say that before..? :D

True

Thanks True..appreciate it.

And the way I get songs loud without squishing them to death is this :

I mix down the 2 track..maybe take 4db off at most with the buss compressor. The mix peaks near 0.

Then I open a new project and make a group channel with a limiter on it on it.

I take the 2track and crank the volume fader all the way and send that into the limiter. I set it to peak at -.01. I do not lower the threshold at all on the limiter.

This helps get the mix loud and you don't have to compress much at all.

Thanks True:)I actually tried to sing a little different than normal on this. I couldn't help but fall into my training on the chorus' though.

I am in the middle of spending a bit o time on th mix right now. I am going to automate the lead vox a bit. I plan on running a bit thinner line though so we will see:D Thanks again.

Another mix for your ears.

Let me know what you think. I dinked around with it today. I still haven't listened to this outside my monitors sooooo
Tried to meld it together a little more, but who knows.

If you want to side buy side I'll give you the old link too.

New link:

If you hear a particular line that's offending let me know:)

You mind if I use this song on my website stash?

No man, go for it. You did the vocals, so do whatever you want.

Thanks If you want credits PM me with your name.

This is the final mix for me I think. I should retrack a couple vocal parts & mix the lead vocals down to automate them properly (so I'm not working against the compressor), But I'm too damn lazy:D

Same link as the original.

Good job guys. F.S. has by far the coolest voice I've heard in here.

NEW mix is IT.
BUT what's with the ultra slow stream? It's taken me 6 minutes to get 1.18 into the song.
Very assured vocal performance against the angst ridden lyrics & I like some of the guitar sounds. The arrangement is gooooood. Little things shine through with successive playings.
Methinks you fellows ought do another.
CONGRATULATIONS.
Oh, & the vocal metamorphosis from 2.38 is a revelation.
20 minutes in and still only at 3.17.

Thanks Greg, You're too kind :)

Geez Ray. I don't know what the issue is withe the download...??? It is a 320kbps mp3, But you've got them offthat server before no problem.
That server is pretty flakey though so it's probly having a fit. There have been plenty of times that I can't access it. I am going to have to start useing my other server for hosting mp3's.

It's a new mix in the as far as what I recorded & what I could do with eq & mutiband comp to make if all fit together;)

Thanks for the comments Ray. The music Stash wrote & recorded hit me right so I was able to whip out the lyrics on this one. That's the way I like it. I'm not opposed to trying it again some time :)

I think I will actually go in and do the automation right on the lead vox one of these days.

I am enjoying the song quite well as it is, but the vox need taked down a bit in the chorus' at least thats my opinion.

I hope the song finished loading for you Ray. If not I can do a 128 or host it on my other server if you would like.

Thanks everyone for the comments:)

Thanks dude. I have always been big on arrangement, and spend a lot of time on that aspect of a song.
