I finally decided to get some recording equipment today, the only prob is that it won't work.

I've got a Boss BR-8 which I'm trying to hook up to my Mac computer using a MIDI to USB cable specially for that. I can see that there is a connection between the Mac and the BR-8. Also the BR-8 is working (ie. mic does show up on it) but the prob is that I can't get any sound of the damn thing.

How can I get the sound from my BR-8 onto my Mac and out of my speakers.

Thanks!

Not with MIDI, that's for sure! Maybe connect the AUDIO output of the BR-8 to an AUDIO input on your computer?

Here's a link to a site that seems to have lots of helpful information:

Good luck,

What I meant was, how can I edit my tracks.

So I record it using the BR-8 and then how do I get them onto my Mac into a program like Garageband and edit the tracks and then burn it onto a CD...if that isn't possible then why did I need a MIDI to USB cable. Where does the Mac figure in all this, I'm a bit confused now.

Thanks anyway, I'll check out that site.

I'm not sure that you do need a MIDI cable. But you might find a use for it.

From about 5 minutes of perusing the site I gave you the link to, it appears that you need (1) a Zip drive for your computer, and (2) the free Wave Converter software.

100MB Zip drives can be had very cheap. I sold one myself about two years ago for $30. They probably go for a lot less now, but perhaps are getting harder to find.

You could use the midi to sync up the audio if the BR8 only allows you to export two audio tracks at one time.

REMEMBER:MIDI is not audio!!!
