starting the build...help and advise please

I am starting to build my own studio at my home. some of the equipment i have is a presonus firestudio mobile, the presonus studio channel preamp for vocals, cubase 4, reason 4, an MXL 990 for vocals and various other mics. ( 57's 58's and a few others) My question is i need active monitors and would like to know some of your favorites. I also would like some feedback on if i should upgrade anything i already have. i am recording mostly electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar and vocals. iv been a writer for years and always let other engeneers worry about the technical side of recording and now am getting into it. still have a lot to learn any help or advice would be awesome. thank you

Welcome to the forums.

Honestly I think you can find all the answers to your questions by simply spending some time here and searching around in these forums. I think what you have now is great, and I don't really have an opinion on monitors because currently I am stuck with headphones for monitors.

But, what you are asking has been asked many times before by other people, and there is information and advice all over this place. If you don't want to look around yourself, I'm sure some others will chime in and be glad to give you some advice.
