Hi - I have a Mac Mini with plenty of memory, and am looking to do a podcast the right way. It'll just be me doing telephone interviews (skype). I bought a mint Heil PR40 & shock mount from a fellow ham radio operator and got a great deal ($285 for both), and would like some suggestions on what I can get. I hope to be able to scrounge together $750 or so for headphones, audio interface, digital audio recorder possibly, et al. Any suggestions how I should go? So far I have come up with:

E-Mu 0404 USB interface (24 bit!) $200.00
Audio Technica A900 headphones $200.00
Edirol R09HD recorder $200-250
Heil PL2T desk arm - $110

Should I be concerned about recording onto the computer (noise!) and go with an outboard recorder like the Edirol? And is there a better interface for the $$ than the E-Mu? Or should I go with firewire? I was going to go with the Apogee interface for the Mac ($500) but heard about complaints re: hiss & hum.

Thanks in advance,
Scott
