Just joined this site. I am a trumpet player and am starting to set up a home studio. Need advice on my mic set up. I have a Zoom 4 track MRS4b digital recorder. It does not have XLR imput just 1/4" jack. I bought a TNC ACM-4 ribbon mic. I understand that it does not need phantom power but when I plug it into my recorder I get barely no sound. Is a mic preamp required if so what is a good preamp for this mic. Also would a mixer work as well as just a plain preamp?
