Does anybody have any experiance using the SR69. The use for me would be in a mens choir setting. What I really want from the mics is "the naked truth" so to say.

I will be using at least two mics or more? One for the first and second bass singers and the other for the first and second tenors. If anybody has other choice for this type of mic set up please bellow.

I have not purchased any mics yet and they should be kind of rugged. They will be slept from concert to concert. Yes I will be able to patch in to the mixing board if there is one but I would also like to have my own with out any mixing before recording.

We are getting ready for competition season and I would like to get the uglys out. There's about 500,000 Norsk kroner up for grabs.

Many thanks to all who respond.

I have an SR71 and a pair of QTC1s. I **suspect** that the SR69s are similar to the SR71, and I know that the sound of the SR71 is quite similar to the QTC1s (although different pickup pattern). All the earthworks mikes are quite well known for their superior accuracy. If "naked truth" is your goal, you can't go wrong with earthworks.

If you are picking up a large choir, a pair of omni pattern may be an advantage. But if it is small, a mike for each singer may be in order. Too many variables to make a recommendation about that. A cardiod mike could easily handle a pair or three singers, but probably not more. Probably depends on how far away you want to mike them, and how important individual voices are to the mix.

good luck,
Rick

In our choir there are 34 and the majority of the others are in the same range. I will check out the QTC1s and see how it stacks up. In the competitions all 34 are one voice hopfully......there should be no single discernable voice or tone. It's kind of painful to sing the same eight songs every second day for six months just to get it right

Sounds like a pair of Earthworks omnis would be ideal. The QTC1 is fabulous, but for live sound you can probably save some cash with one of the other models. They differ only in sensitivity and noise level. Any of them is probably just fine.
Note: On the special offers and refurbs page, some of the "cosmetic blemish" mikes have almost unfindable "blemishes" (I can't find mine !) and you really don't need a matched pair. Any two Earthworks are more well-matched than most companies' "matched pairs". So any two will do. So you can save $$ that way.

PS: Do you have any openings in the choir ? For that many Norsk Kroners, I'll learn Norwegian. :)

Good luck,
Rick

Yep there are openings...... but you have to get through the try outs first thats about a year. We only sing two songs in Norwegain and the others are German, Swedish and English. I have only learned Norwegain in the last 6 years. So you have a chance...... 500,000 Nok....really sounds like a lot but the QTC1's are going for 26,000 Kroner

I was checking out prices here and you know there 40% higher than there in the US on all the EarthWork products. Just very crazy. Many things I get my sister to send it to me from Canada and prey it get through customs.
