I want to thank my man
My husband is tone-deaf and can't dance. But he lets me commandeer one bedroom of our 3-bedroom house full-time. I track in there, play, store all my gear, etc. When recording, I also either monopolize the adjacent bedroom (office) where the computer is, or I take over the living room, where the piano is. He is patient with this and all the cables. He leaves. He hides quietly in another room. He doesn't bitch about any of this or the money I spend (well, I make my own so it's cool), or the band practices we used to have at my house, or the hours I now spend away at rehearsals, or the late-nght hours supporting me at gigs. He happily works the door or plays roadie, even for out-of-area shows when he can. And he's never ONCE asked me to give up this musical pursuit.
Oh, and how does it relate to mixing or mastering? Well now, no one exists in a vacuum ... we all need support of loved ones, especially for something like recording if we need to do it at our house or otherwise need to spend the $$ we share with a life partner on recording gear/facilities.
