Is the difference in sound really noticible or am I splitting hairs? How would you describe the sound differences?

They are both inexpensive preamps with relatively clean gain. I would say that it is definitely splitting hairs to aks if one is clearly "better" than the other. Neither one will make you sound better than you are; nor will they impede you from making decent quality recordings. This is not a life-changing decision, so just buy one already. If I have to read one more post from you about preamps, I will send someone over to break your knees. ;)
