I'll think about you doing that guitar solo, yeah I know, it's an offer I can't refuse...but I like to give it a few more shots myself, ok?

That's fine.

But you're doomed to failure.

that 'not clear enough' was not based on the Xander-like articulation but more the way of recording, but it is for the HRC so you weren't able to get them more clear with some eq so I know it was a stupid comment etc. etc.

You're probably right SLuiCE....I was just paying attention to Khompy's feelings (he offered it first, you know)

What the heck: screw Khompy's feelings...It's friggin' SLuiCE offering this, Khomp! I just can't refuse, sorry!

I'll PM you, Tom! Thanks for offering!

Okay, I just read the thread, and I totally forgot this was your "dry" submission.

sheesh...nice work.

Don't worry man, I'm just shittin' ya :D I thought it was quite hilarious to be compared to him...wel eens wat anders dan de eeuwige Vrienten-vergelijking (vind ik ook niet echt erg hoor, hij is mijn held)

Chris, of course why not? Compare me to Pink Floyd....my least favorite band. You guys are hilarious! :D

Thanks!

Oh shit dude... I didn't read the thread! Sorry about that Khomp!! Wasn't trying to step on your toes. All yours....

(I feel like an ass.)

Yeah, man...this could TOTALLY be about 3 cuts off of "Animals"...dude, you NAILED the Pink Floyd thing...it's obvious you're a big fan. This is more like a tribute to Floyd than an original, really.

Nice work

:D :D :D :D

This sounds very very pro, man.

'Course, it's kinda like when I listen to Angelique Kidjou - digging the sounds, no clue what the topic is.

Your dry sound doesn't sound like it's missing much. The pitch thing will be less noticeable wet, but the slides will come out more - so I think your approach is gonna give you what you were looking for.

i kept listening for R-n-B, didn't really hear it. But what you have is GREAT. And the drum sound worked for me - "thin" leaves space for something else on the low end, and is especially appropriate on ballads. IMO.

Just one more thing:

She's so:

H-E-A-V-Y!!!!!
;) ;)

Ya I gotta say man, the way you classify your music baffles me sometimes. :)

This is kind of a trippy tune. I like how you build the arrangement as you go, and I love those chord changes.

The recording sounded good on this end (in lo-fi) ... would've liked to hear the drums a bit louder in the mix, and there were several attacks on the guitar that were kind of buried...maybe just bringing those out a bit may sound better (what do I know...) and the solo may have been a bit louder.

Vocals were top-notch! I loved those harmonies on there and the way you arranged them were very inspirational!

Loved the tune!

:)

chrisharris: :D

dafduc (& SLuiCE): thanks! Very pro even! Wow. :) Btw, I was referring to the old definition of a R'n'B ballad (Otis and the likes, mind you, I'm not comparing myself with the genius that is Otis!), not the modern 'thanks to my pimp I've got a new car, and what do you think about my nails?'-style of R'n'B (which can be pleasant to listen to sometimes too ;) )

Anyway, it was my intention to make a 6/8 ballad like that. But as usual, it ended up very differently...however, in my mind it's still a 60's 6/8 ballad in Otis style LOL :D (O, I did try to make a 'modern' style R'n'B tune once, Er Moet Iemand Zijn, and something went terribly wrong there too....it's on this page http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=2618&alid=447 ....listen to it if you like....pimpin' will be the last thing on your mind, I assure you...:D )

boydrj: thanks for listening and kind words. I agree with you on the drums...

Great song man.I cant understand a word and I DONT care.LOL.Love the vocals and guitars...keys are nice too.I heard a hint of Steve Miller Bands "Winter Time" at 2:06 with those harmony guitars. The vocals remind me of steven tyler in certain spots.......groovy tune Pedullist.

sounds really good man.....how was the guitar recorded at the beginning there, was it stereo miced?

Aha, I spijt in your face. :)

Nice production, Pedman. The harmonies sound quite lush, even though they are dry.

Not sure I care for the tone of distorted guitar playing the downbeat chord, but that's just a matter of taste. Also, there sure sounds like some reverb on the guitars. :)

Regardless, quite a professional production. Nice work.

I was looking for something like "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Dutchman"...:D :D :D

Ok, look I enjoy Sluice music as much as the rest of us. He's extrememly talented. Can't take anything away from that.

HOWEVER...

I think you'll come to a point where you rethink your feelings on this. Maybe it's just cause I'm new but...

There is a solo on my latest here: KOMNETEC (starts at the 2:00 minute mark).

Please feel free to tell me after listening I'm talking out my ass, I'd be happy to add motivational fuel to the inferno.

and Tjarko man, it's embarrassing to be trashed like that. I had considered you like a mentor to this point and then you go and bash me bacause you're star struck. If you had just quietly asked Tom to do it I wouldn't have felt offended, but you had to go and publicly thread "screw Khompy"?? Not necessary imo.

Khomp man I'm sure he was just kidding. He kinda has a Chris Harris sort of humor where if you don't know he's joking you sorta want to beat him up.

"Starstruck"...now that's really funny! :D

Like I said bro I didn't even read the thread before I posted that, so I didn't see what you wrote either.. I just thought it was a cool groove to jam on. Something different for me. Please don't be offended, your music deserves better than that spirit.

And when I said he was doomed to failure, I thought he was doing it himself, so I was just doing a little cross-Atlantic ball busting. ;) He knew it was a joke.
