Anybody out there keen on the Asylum Street Spankers?
They have a killer album called Mercurial that they recorded on a "vintage" two track analog tape machine.
Fresh off a tour, they recorded the album in two days in a recording studio that looks like an old church.
No oberdubs, nothing added. Just an amazing band playing all acoustic instruments, live, and a good sound man mixing it down, live, to two good old tracks on tape.
I'm blown away when I listen to that album. Makes me realize all the multi tracking digital electronic crap going on is nothing compared to real talent.
The Spankers have been my favorite band for the last year. I wish I got turned on to them ten years ago! I've only seen them live twice, and they were insane! Funnest shows ever. I want to go to Austin just to see them some more.
Anyhow, I'm posting this here for you anolog enthusiasts because it's right up your alley. Two analog tracks are all you need for a truly top notch recording, IF the musicians are up to snuff.
Check 'em out!
