I'm recording an elvis style number just now & I just have to tell you all what I've used because it fuckin' well rocks
My variaxe set to bridge PU of a tele, going thru pod XT live for a bit of EQ & touch of compression
then into a british built tube amp called vortexian (built like a tank for the military) set about 1/2 way in volume thru a black widow 12 in an open back cab
mic'd with a neumann KMS105 for the sound I'm hearing & a beyer M201 with a delay set to 100%wet so it's all slapback, mix them together & feed a roland RS550 for reverb
in my opinion it is the best lead sound I've ever achieved in my studio & I'm so excited I've just gotta go & play some more
