im trying to work on my drum micing technique...

mics:

2- SM57's
1- SP b1
2- mxl 603's
1- beta 52a
2-cad 22

of course i have the 2 603's as overheads ( still having a hard time finding good placements for those ) 1 of the 57s on the snare, beta on the kick..

but im finding that i really cant get a good balance of high hats and toms together , along with cybmals....

now im not using the 2 cad 22 mics, the b1, and another 57... would it be wise to throw one of those up on the high hat ? or toms ? what do you think ?

b-52 kick
603s OH's
sm57 Snare if you have a 2nd 57 why not throw it on the hats? If it doesn't add any thing good pull the fader down.

Could try the B1 as a room mic ( I'm using a pair of B1's for OH)

i was orginally going to grab a second b1 so i can run two b1's as overheads...

how do the two compare?

and what type of placement am i looking at for the 57 on hats? underside ? up top ?

Yeah, I also have another questions... I get a LOT of hihat bleed when I mic my snare (and I'm using a nady condensor mic from one of there sets, pointed away from the hihat, towards the snare)... yet the bleed is still very loud. Any suggestions on mic placement or choice, or anything, that could lower the hihat bleed or perhaps better control it?

ok u can do a search for "recorderman method" or look for a thread with the title " GREAT way to get fat drums, fast, with 3 mics... "
