Hi there,

For anyone with a droopy Studio Projects B1 mic clip; this is how I adjusted mine :

Hey, sweet! I gave up on mine after five minutes and replaced them with generic mic clips (the rubber kind' they're actually able to grib the B1 base pretty well).

I'll go get the originals back out and try this, though! Cool!

What exactly is that file? php? I couldn't open it once I down loaded it.

That stupid clip is driving my nuts! Anyone want to post an explanation or a link to one on how to fix it?

It's a zipped PDF file... Winzip and Adobe Acrobat Reader are available on the web.

These instructions contain photos, which even when converted to lower resolution jpeg files, pushed the file size over the acceptable maximum file size at this site. So, I converted the .doc file to a .pdf file to reduce the size, and I "zipped it up" to reduce the file size even more, and because .pdf is one of the acceptable file formats at this site.
 
hmmm....well i'm on a mac and all it wants to do is download a .php file...no pdf. I'm quite familiar with them. It just doesn't seem to want to download as a pdf for me. Can someone copy and paste the text in here?

The text alone might not be as helpful as the whole thing. If you send me your Email address, I'll be happy to send the unzipped pdf file directly to you. Probably won't happen until tomorrow though... gotta get back to the salt mines...
 
Hey Kid Klash, I see you live in Portland. I live in Lincoln City and I'm wondering where you get your Studio Projects stuff. I want to get a pair of B3s and a VTB-1 but don't know where to. Thanks.

basically the screw to tighten the tension on the clip is hidden beneath a cap that you pop off kind of like something that would cap off the end of a bicycle handlebar.

make any sense?

You can get Studio Projects goodies in Portland at Brownell Sound on S.E. Hawthorne Blvd. Their phone number is (503) 231-7866 and they're really good, knowledgeable people to work with.
I usually work with either Curt (the owner) or Charlie (a great country guitarist and studio veteran).
 
I used to think that surf breaks like 33rd st. or Road's End, or Gleneden were "crowded"... That was before I moved to Venice.

okay...either I'm smoking crack or Brent Casey is...

But I agree, LA is crazy crowded when it comes to surf...try the cold untamed waters of San Francisco.

Back to the subject...thanks...I'll look for that hidden tightening spot, but (to Kid Klash), my email is...

That's very cool, thanks. I'll see about making it available on the web site in the "downloads" section, if that's ok.
I surfed Central Oregon coast for eleven years before moving to SoCal. It's nice to trunk it from May to late October, but I do miss places like Canyons in L.C., Cascade Head (psilocybia!), Pacific City and Hawk Creek Cafe in Neskowin. And of course, spots like ___ _____, just south of ____ ______ are truly world class no matter how cold it gets.
Thanks always for your support of our mics. I just talked to Alan who's over in the U.K. right now with Malcolm Toft and it sounds like we have more mics on the way including the new LSD2 stereo mic.
Also, Stephen Paul's mic is coming together nicely. We ended up leaving the lab around midnight last night and Stephen was still going strong.
His design approach follows a different set rules. 99.9% of everything else out there - including most mic preamp designs, are inherently...wrong, because of this. Apples and oranges.

I was just wondering where the surfing comment came from in the middle of a post about the clip for the Studio Projects.

I actually saw a shark fin while I was surfing (practically by myself) about a year ago off of Ocean Beach in San Francisco. Pretty freaky. Although it had the oportunity to make me an early dinner it just kept on going...thank god!

Great mics though!

Oddly enough, I'm not sure if this PDF is going to help. The "elbow" of my clip is fine. It's the part that screws to the mic stand that seems loose for some reason. I've got to kind of jam it on there in an angle to have it hold. I'm waiting for the entire mic to fall off at some point and bounce of my feet. Does anyone else have this problem?
 
Ah ok. The surfing comment was in reference to Tomcat who lives in Lincoln City, Oregon - which serves as kind of a midway jumpoff point for a lot of central coast surf.
Sorry about my surfing references on HomeRec today. There's a big swell due to hit tomorrow and my two best friends are coming down from Portland and Santa Cruz to catch it.
I'd be happy to send out a new clip if you need one.
