I'm sure this has been asked before, but is there a good, commonly-available substitute replacement for shockmount elastic?

Thanks for any ideas.

I was just wondering that earlier today. I Wonder if it comes in sizes, I need a tighter elastic for my U195, as its heavy and anything but straight up and down it wants to sag and come loose.

Arts and crafts stores, look for the homemade Jewelry section.

Humm, I wonder what they use them for... and what do they call them? Anyway, thanks for the tip. :)

What about bicycle inner tubes? You can cut the width as desired.

Yeah, the cloth-covered stuff I've seen used on many shockmounts looks identical to stuff I've seen in yardage and crafts stores, so maybe it is. There's a big yardage store near me, so if I can manage to get moving today I should go take a look there. Apparently it's just cut to length and then secured into a ring.

The inner-tube thing sounds like it would work if you could cut that thin of a slice accurately, but I'd need a larger diameter than a bike tube.

The lo-elasticity of that inner-tube rubber also mimics the consistency of the rubber I'm replacing. I think the idea is for the elastic to be "deader" than more resilient, springier rubber. Unfortunately, the original molded rings rotted out in about a year even in a dark studio!

If it's the generic "shock mount" that comes with Studio Projects et al, I've used large rubber O rings in the past and they work well. I've sourced these from industrial seal suppliers.
