Sounds like?

Hey I've been trying to create a press kit and I really don't know of any other artists that I sound like. I would like to include some thing like you may be interested in this if you like this artist or that artist. Now it's hard for me to judge since it's me and I don't think I sound like anyone else, but I know there has to be somebody out there that thinks I do. So if you would be so kind could you give a track or two a listen and let me know who I may sound like.

This track is a little older it's called "Tennessee"

noooo, don't do that. if they want that sound they would get the real deal and not some knock off. from my understanding, everyone pretty much wants the next new big thing.
 
I know that, but you should at least say something like people that like so and so will like this artist. I know not to say this artist sounds just like that artist.

I agree with Jug, go ORIGINAL..............That sells more than anything else!
Cats like Das EFX would have never made it if it wasn't for originality, Luther, Biggie or Tupac, man the list goes on...............Who did they bite? I know that is not what you're saying, but your focus should be on you. Don't worry about marketing yourself based on comparisons. Let the listeners do that, You just do You!

I mean , you are correct, I see that in a lot of marketing schemes. But if you're an Artist, you really shouldn't be worrying about that! You really should be focusing on your craft. Don't lose you vision! TRUST ME I KNOW....
 
Yeah it's not holding me back or anything, I do my own thing. Just was curious to what specific market I should pursue. It's a waste of money to blow it on a market that doesn't like your stuff..
 
That's where your hood work comes in. Try different markets....get different responses from people you know and don't know. You're gonna get different words and that's not a bad thing. Like the saying goes, can't please everybody all the time. Just do your thing and don't worry about the markets....the markets will come to you.
 
A press kit should be all about you like everyone else says. Get some reviews of you stuff done that's always nice to throw in a press kit. Not long reviews short ones will do just throw some quotes on them and put them in there. I'll review your stuff if you want.


edit. Let a professional do it lol like maybe a pretty well known hip hop site or your local music mag. I let a music site review a song of mine and I threw that in my press kit. It really isnt all that important it just adds insight on how your music is viewed by others.
