2 10mm sound board
3 completly no gapped everything in sight
4 stuck pine around all edges and re no gapped the lot
5 then stuck carpet tiles all over the roof

After all this it still goes through
I have hebel brick walls and concrete floor which I'LL CARPET ETC

Any help, advice or persoanl experience would be greatly appreciated I've got no idea what to de next
MANY THANKS

Hi Nev - welcome to HR :)

As I understand your post you have lined the ceiling joists with 10mm plasterboard with insulation in the cavity?? The carpet tiles will do nothing to stop the sound. The only thing stopping the sound is the 10mm plaster. The sound will travel through the plaster and then through the floor joists.

what you need to do is to run furring channels over the plaster and put a new layer of 16mm plaster.

check out this page at SAE.

Hi John
Thanks for the reply and advice I must admit I was very disapointed after putting 85 carpet tiles to have the same result!! With the furring channel do you know if the gap has to be bigger than the channel itself I found that it comes in 28mm height?? also do you recommened this going around the RSJ's as well or just in the main roof mass between.

Thansk agian for the reply and especially the link there is some good info ther also I was surprised with the bessa blocks being good would you beleive I good have got a full pallet for free!!!! instead of spending $1300 on the sono hebel bricks!! oh well you live and learn I suppose
Thanks Mate
