Soundproofing my room

Nick just make up a bunch of 703 panels and put them on the sides and rear of your mix position. Then straddle a few over the corners.

I just picked up 12 of them for $100 and have so far made 4 clouds and 2 corner bass traps.
 
i was at home depot today checking everything out .. went down the insulation of coarse looking for some rigid fiberglass .. i think i found some .. they were for ceiling tiles and they were kinda small though .. whats the proper name for rigid fiberglass ?


what are 703 panels ?

forget the foam. quit looking at home depot for rigid fiberglass. if you seek, you shall find.
 
yeah i was just there so i figured it give it a shot.. this stuff confuses the hell outta me

703 is just the name for type of panel it is. "Rigid" is used to denote that it's different than typical "fluffy" fiberglass...the kind that you use in your walls to insulate your house. Rigid is just much easier to work with and to hang on your walls. It's a bunch of fiberglass condensed into a 2" thick panel.

There's a company that makes panels just like this, besides RealTraps...all ready made for you to buy. A little more pricier than DIY, but might be worth a look over. I think they're a little cheaper than Ethan's (although I don't think they look as nice ;) ) I'll post the link tomorrow once I find it if you want.

I checked my local hvac supply place had the faced stuff for $66/ 48sf.

It's the Certainteed equivalent to OC 703. (The "CB 300") link:

$180 for 96 sf at ready acoustics is a little more expensive. Granted, I'm on the east coast on the I-95 corridor, so cost may wind up being a matter of where you are/ accessibility.
