First time poster, helping my dad set up a small home recording setup for evaluation purposes.
We've got a pair of Soundman OKM ii binaural mics from "back in the day" when he'd record on minidisc. They won't connect to either of our Macbook laptops because of the silly single port, so we need an interface to connect the mics to the computer. I bought a Zoom U-22 interface, but when I record the input levels are way too low and without the supplied preamp they barely even register.
The manual suggest that low-level home recording through line in should be perfectly fine, even without a preamp, but so far it's not working
However, when recording mono through a TRS/TRRS adaptor (directly in the Mac) or through the single Hi-z input of the Zoom the levels are perfectly acceptable.
What's going on here?
Thanks in advance and sorry for any -noobishness.
