Is a soundfont just a wav sample?
I own fruityloops (still figuring it out) and I just found out that they sell a soundfont player. Fruity can already play samples - or is this player for people who already have soundfonts on their computer and would like to use them in fruity too?
Thanx in advance

A soundfont is more like a collection of samples..It's an .sf2 file...Originally you needed a soundblaster live or a similar type of card to play soundfonts. Now there is software that will play soundfonts..A .wav sample is just an individual sound whereas, say, a piano soundfont should contain an individual sample for each note, and a drum soundfont, each drum sound. They may also come with synthesizer parameters like envelopes and filters...soundfonts are popular largely thru the success of the soundblaster card and many soundfonts are available for free on the internet.
