I was considering purchasing the SoundBlaster Live (or Live Value) card solely because of the SoundFont capability. But I received a reply from Creative Labs regarding the same capability of my present card (Creative Labs Audio PCI 128D) and was informed that it should handle it. Why they could not have been more certain, about this, is completely beyond me. But they said that I would need a 3rd party software program in which to load the soundfonts. Can anyone help me with such a program? also - if there are a number of them to choose from - which would be better to get. THANX

Thanks Eric J,

I have visited the sites and downloaded some stuff. 'haven't had the chance, yet, to see what will happen when they are pulled up, but I am definitely going to give it a shot. I also believe that I am going to get one of the SoundBlaster Live cards. I know that there are better out there, but one of the above should serve nicely for what want to do.

Thanks again.

If you wish to bypass the use of a Soundblaster card alltogether, these programs can provide a viable alternative for using your soundfonts:

Reality

SurReal (both can be demoed at http://www.seersystems.com)

Audio Compositor (http://home.att.net/~audiocompositor)

Virtual Sampler (http://www.maz-sound.com/vsampler/)

There are a few more, but I personally use a couple of the above mentioned, and, frankly, the soundfonts sound better on my laptop than they do on my PC with my soundblaster live card (primarily because I'm by passing the use of the soundcard altogether)

Hope this helps...
