Hi all,

I just wanted to started a general thread about soundcraft. Any of them use their mixers? Any comments?

Especially: How do they compare to other companies? Different sound? Other quality for money?

I'm considering buying a Folio F1 or an M4, still doubting.

thx for extra info

I've got an F1 16. I like it. I've run drum machines, guitars, vocals, bass and a synth through it. All sound fine and clean. The EQ is good. The pre-amps sound okay. On the negative side the unit doesn't seem that robust, it's very light, the knobs and sliders have a very cheap feel to them, the power cord connection is the flimsiest I've ever seen. It's fine for home use. I'd be worried using it live.

From what I've read of the M4, the pre-amps are amazing. If I was looking for a mixer now I'd probably go for one of them.

Never used a Mackie or anything else, so I can't compare.

I am using the Folio Powerpad which is the powered version of the Notepad. Very clean. One step down from the F1. Quality is very good.

I will probably upgrade to one of the Mackies in the near future as everyone is raving about their channel pre amps. If you can step up to mixer with a submix section life is better. Also stereo aux buss for effects is a must. The Powerpad is mono out stereo in on the aux bus and rarely gets used.

I have a F1 8 inputs and it's great. I think the preamps are as good (or maybe better) than the Mackie's. Someone in other forum once told me that the Spirits preamp could do well compared to the Audio Buddy, which is as you may know one of the favs around.

The M Series uses Ghost pres, so that's supposed to be REALLY nice.
