Soundcraft M4 spdif into Korg D1600 spdif

I read a post about how big kenny was using a Kurzweil Rumor to run digitally into the Korg D1600 to bypass the not so great preamps. Would this work well with a Soundcraft M4, they have spdif, and both the Korg and Soundcrafts digital out puts are at 24 bit 44.1 khz. Does anyone have any experience with the quality of the A/D converters on the Soundcraft, do you think they would be equal or better in quality to the rack processors or the Rumor digital outs??? I really need some info. I'm looking to drop a nice grand on a set up I'll have for years to come.

I tried the S/PDIF output from my M4. The converters seems a bit nicer than the Digi001 converters, which isn't saying a whole lot, and not nearly as nice as the RME ADI-8 Pro converters I normally use.
