Neither of those facts give us any information for narrowing it down for you. More important things are:

(1) What kind of computer? Mac or PC? What OS? Laptop?

(2) What recording software do you want to use? Does it support ASIO or WDM drivers (or both, or neither)?

(3) What kind of recording do you want to do? Do you need a MIDI interface? Do you need four or eight simultaneous inputs, or are two enough?

Give us some info along those lines and then perhaps someone can give you some guildeines on what to look for.

I am using a PC, running XP and as of right now i'm using Cool Edit. All I'm basically going to be doing is recording vocals. As far as other software, people tell me to go with Protools, other people tell me to go otherwise. Midi I honestly don't know much about, and thats pretty much that. I'm just an emcee that wants to record, and my stuff to come out nice.

sound card choice

check out m audios gear.. its not that pricy...you only need prob 2 L and R pairs of ins.. so check out the delta 44 .. i have the 66 .. im happy with it.

yeah, I'd been thinking about going with a delta 66, but noone had given me much feedback on it.

Sounds to me like the Audiophile would be a better choice for you if all you need to do is record your own vocals...

How are you planning to make your beats? Loops?

yeah, right now I'm just producing with Fruity Loops, but my boys get me beats as well

Druken........

its just a matter of what i can get for my money, i guess? i already spent 261 on my mic and 5 on my mixer, so its whatever
