For a laptop, USB or Firewire. For a desktop machine, PCI.

For a laptop, Firewire. For a desktop machine, PCI or Firewire.
Recording through USB has too many times been a recipe for disaster for too many people.
I have good experiences with both PCI and Firewire, bad ones with USB and there are numerous HR members that can tell you similar stories.
