Hi Eddie,
The SB Live Value seems to work okay for me. I could not afford the more expensive cards either. The live has much less noise than the real El Cheapo SB cards. The Live Value is not what the big dogs use, but it works fine for me!

It's a good deal, Eddie - and a good card for the $.

To get into the bios, reboot - watch the screen and press whatever key it indicates to get into setup - see if you have the option the disable the onboard sound there.

Or, you can disable it in the control panel under systm devices - Slackmaster is the guy to ask about that.

thanks jim.. i went out looking for the soundblaster at comp usa and circuit city but couldnt find the one with the spdif i/o's so i settled on a 20 dollar soundcard from aureal and installed it.. its on a different irq and i havent had any conflicts yet.. so if it aint broke..DONT FIX IT.. the sound quality difference is amazing between the 20 dollar card and the onboard soundchip in my computer.. i cant wait to get a real card...

thanks for the bios tip though..its good to know..

If you have a SB-Live Value, you can order the daughter card with the digital I/O for $39 directly from SoundBlaster, it comes with the cable to connect it to the SB-Live. They are currently sold-out (as of 2/18) but expect to have them again in a couple of weeks.
