I agree...

I agree...

There are plenty of resources on the WWW that would be more appropriate for this level/frequency of questioning.

And, apparently someone has no sense of humor and gave me a major negative comment and rating on my previous message here. Once again, someone doesn't get it because they have no sense of humor.

The sound on sound is a form of Stacking Modulation Frequencys or something to make it STACK ontop of pre-recorded audio.

Bouncing would be like mixing or Adding it together not really STACKing it

i would think my thoughts

My DAW doesn't give me the option to do sound on sound if i record

on track#1 and try to record another sound ontop of it it just erases it

i know back on the reel to reels sound on sound it had a FOURTH HEAD

for sound on sound feature

or am i doing something wrong?

Yea les paul invented sound on sound before multi track recorders

and his albums sound different than multi track overdubbing

because he is doing sound on sound overdubbing

sound way different to me

Has no-one else noticed walters is becoming cleverer?

I thought it was really funny ... after like the first couple threads he started.

Now it's just getting pretty old and stale.

Yeah it was a bit funny, but time to give up Walter eh?

He has always been clever......... :D
I think we know who he is. And if so, he's better at recording and mixing than most of us will ever be....

Who? Who?

Who is it? Who has everyone in this frenzy?

Have you noticed that Walters' threads have been the most popular threads here for the longest time now?

Not sure popular is the right word. But yes, they are certainly high-traffic. Well done, northside, I mean walters.

If Dragon coming back meant I got banned then it'd be worth it to clear the current hooligan element off here.

What's worse is when clearly intelligent people start threads like this. You have to know a fair amount to make a thread come across this stupid ... that takes skill and talent that would be better spent helping me not to suck. :p

Wow, we got a flamer

Sorry, I'm not Walters. And I'm certainly not a hooligan.

I love my studio, it's my bread and butter. Maybe people think I'm Walters because I'm one of the few people who tried to investigate what his actual point of view was and communicate before flaming him down.

I know it's frustrating. It's distracted me for far too long...

Wow, three negative rulings from some flamer who thinks I'm Walter. It's actually kind of amusing how the anonymity & disassociation from reality of human interaction that the internet provides creates a magnification of some user's psychological disfunctions.

Thanks for the neg rep, though. It's much appreciated. Do what you like man, this forum lasts until I finish my exams in about 27hrs time and then I will have no reason to be here all the time.

One more thing...

You are right, this board needs a more scrutinous moderator. I'm all for it, and I'd be glad to take the job if no-one else is up to it.

Many beginners have come in and volunteered to do that over the years. Until you've been here 18-24 months and understand the relationships between the industry and amateur elements here, you can't even begin to know how to moderate it.

If you're just volunteering to look up IP numbers and ban people with multiple names, then be my guest.

It won't happen though, this is the house that Dragon built. It's also the house that Dragon rents out but doesn't come back to check on the state of, or keep our bonds to pay for his maintenance costs ...

Hmm.

That's kind of a bummer... There's a lot of valuable info here. I really like the personal & subjective/fun angle to aquiring new ideas about home recording, but it gets to a point where it becomes distracting and dramatic. That's not healthy for anyone's database, but maybe it brings in more numbers...

As for experience, I spent a couple of years administrating an informational website with an average of 300,000 hits per month...

It is what it is. Operate within its limits, but don't set about those of us who've hung around and tried to make the best of what's left. I haven't learned anything here in months and months. All I get here are useless arguments over gear. It's an interesting diversion from work, but I can do without it frankly.

Anyway ... you aren't reading this, right, cos I'm a 'jerk and should get professional help'. Right? :D

Probably

I'm sure you were just blowing off steam from cramming, huh.

It's easy to say/write anything when noone is held accountable for their actions.

Perhaps there's a few lessons to be learned here: For me, a major one might be that gear is all about hype for most people. It's all subjective.

There was a military experiment... One test subject and three controls were sent into a room to verify whether or not a small dot on a plain wall was moving, and if so how far.

The test subject went last, after the three trained controls said that the dot was moving between 3-5 cm. (as they were told to do by the experimenters) This is all without the test subject's knowledge.

The test subject 99% of the time exclaimed that the dot was moving the average distance of the three control subjects although in reality the dot never moved...

Haha .. I'm sure there's a lesson in there somewhere. :)

You have some nice stuff in your studio, I'm sure you will be a valuable addition to this site. Sorry for not having checked your website out sooner. There has been a spate of idiots signing up (which I joined in with, although mainly to put up a really good mixing article that was previously lost to this site) and so it's become easy to go off on a witch hunt.

FWIW, I'm no flamer. I'm one of the nicer guys on here ... but that doesn't mean I can't cut a sarcastic jibe when needed. And yes ... blowing off steam has been helpful. :)

I would like to chime in to state that I am no longer interested in marrying Walters. Enough.
