Hello:

I need some help to determine a replacement non-express PCI sound card (presently a SoundBlaster Live 24bit).

The main interest is recording analog (vinyl and tape) but I also need play back software similar to features in a SoundBlaster Live 24bit (EQ, and effects). I also want to transfer my cds to the hard drive.

I do not alter the music as it transfers to the hard drive. I do clean up the music once saved (removing pops and crackles). When I listen to the transfered and cleanup recordings, I might use eq and-or effects but only to what I hear and not to the file.

My turntable is a Sanusi FR-D3 with a Shure M97xe cartridge which is connected to a JVC receiver with .007 THD and >90 S/N ratio.

My computer is a pc with Xp sp2, 1.75ghz cpu, and 1gb ram

I have looked at the Xonar D1 and the Creative X-Fi Extreem Music. I looked at the M-Audio 2496 but I could not determine what kind of playback software (if any) comes with the card.

ESI Juli@ may work for you.

ESI Juli@ card may fit the bill it has the option of -10 RCA or +4 TRS jacks also SPDIF out and in.

2 channels of analog and 2 digital.
