Hi everybody,

I'm *just* starting to get into home recording. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what brand sound card to get: SB or Diamond. My gut instinct is saying SB, but I want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything. I know the Diamond Monster MX300 had an optional daughtercard (MX25) that made it fairly equivalent to the Sound Blaster Live! (so Diamond says..)

Anyhow, I am on a rather tight budget, so I'd rather not go for the pro-cards just yet :) Any advice, opinions, or other would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Jeff Gallant

If you're set on a Live...you might as well get a Live instead of something that's "equivalent" to one :)

Don't know if you're interested or not, but I've got a Turtle Beach FIJI I used only six months on Ebay now. I used the SBL before and sold it to get the FIJI. The FIJI is quieter and has 20bit converters. It's the same as TB's Pinnacle card w/o the Kurtzweil daughter board for MIDI, but, you can add a DB on the boards header, Yamaha, Kurtzweil, whatever.
Mine also has digital I/O. I'm selling it to get more I/O and 24 bit.

Email me at yescan@penn.com if you want more information.
