i found on of these in my garage....does anybody know what it does, and what i can use it for???

:) There is also or was in the 80's a Carver C-9 stand alone unit, What it did was create a 3-D effect using 2 speakers, For example in orchestra recordings you tell how far back the instruments are as well as location left to right. It makes terrible recordings though. I still have mine, after 14 yrs, Istill think the $219 paid for it was money thrown away.

isn't that what panning and reverb are supposed to do?

:D Yes, this was an add on item for audiofiles high end stereo systems. It added a psuedo depth affect as you played back record albums on your stereo. It was never intended for production use.
It created a " 3rd demension " while only useing 2 speakers, the speakers had to be positioned just right, you had to be in the sweet spot, or else you couldn't hear the "affect".
Like I sez, It really wasn't worth the money, But when they first came out, I had to be the first kid in my state to have one.
