So, I should be getting a mailbox full of CD's with submissions in it on Monday and Tuesday. We will see..... :)

Anyway, I was contemplating about how to choose the song order for the CD. Of course, some consideration needs to be given to how the CD will "flow", meaning, having S8-N's submission follow gibs tune (hey gibs, cool lyrics by the way.... :) ) would probably not be such a good idea. Having gibs tune follow S8-N's wouldn't work to well either. And of course I am at a loss as to where to put doc's tune at!!! (just kidding).

Anyway, what I am going to do is figure out some track order. Then, I am going to do a little "start and end" low-res mp3 that I will up load. It will only be like the first and last 10 secs. of every tune and will reflect the amount of time that will be between the tunes. This way, you all can get an idea of how songs will transition to each other and hopefully get a feel for the flow of the CD.

I will post on this forum a link when it is ready so that any and all can download it and make comments (except 'you suck' type of comments, I get enough of those in the microphone forum... :D). Don't expect great quality from this mp3, it will be encoded at like 64kbs so that the download will be managable. With this many submissions, having 20 secs. of every tune plus the time between them will by quite a big file. If it starts getting really big, I will make a couple different mp3's so that you all can download them at different times without worrying about one REALLY BIG download.

Any ideas on song order are encouraged. Ideas from submitters will be considered and discussed in depth. Ideas from non-submitters will be considered, but not neccessarily discussed to any great degree as that is like getting hackled from the peanut gallery.... :D

Sonusman, that's a great idea...and you won't hear any suck comments from me, because I'm sure your ears are hearing all kinds of weird artifacts in my own sucky mix !...You can put me at the very end if you like...I'm just happy to be on the thing at all...would it be a bad idea to order the songs in a genre format or would that be REALLY sucky?..(such as..metal...pop...adult comtempory...experimental...midi mix....and then miscellaneous or weird...of course, some folks might not agree with any of those categories, depending on how they see their music....just a thought, and probably not a good one...gibs :D

I would hate to have to decide which catagory to put doc's tune in, so, maybe it wouldn't be such a great..... :D

But really, that would really take more opinions than my own as I would end up putting everything in the "mid 80's metal" catagory. Gosh, whatever happened to Barry Manilo anyway, I loved him.... :)

That's going to be a tough one Ed. I don't envy you that task! I'm curious to see what you come up with. I really don't like the idea of categorizing the songs...that's just bound to cause more trouble than it's worth.

It's not one artist, so I think the order will be random. There may be someway of ordering them in a "producton" sense, but why get bogged down with that?

Put em all in a hat and let the bits fall where they may. Either ways ok with me.

drstawl's track will fit in anywhere - trust me - it'll clash with nothing.

You could go for a fast/slow pattern in organizing the tracks, or an energetic/laid back one, and then when things were getting a bit samey (they're bound to on a long CD), drop in doc's electro gamelan alternative perspective.

I think we should put out 25 singles so that nobody feels bad.
