Crawdad...

I'm glad I re-found this thread, because I had downloaded your song this past Saturday...

What a beatiful song! Really an excellent job in every way. I like the E7 (I think) on the line "young eyes ever see..."

I've been listening to this one a lot. Thanks for sharing it!

A taste less reverb. :)

Try it in C and see how it sounds.

'This bridge was made for burning' - brilliant line.

Crawdad,

Reading these comments has convinced me to take time out to have a listen........something I rarely have or take time to do.

In the meantime I better not let my son see that photo of your daughter, otherwise he may want to trade his LP in for a plane ticket:D

For those who have listened to my recent contribution in this forum, this is the lead guitarist............>>>>>

great tune, great job. keep'em coming. sounds like we might have to buy the next one from the record store.

Nice as usual......I know she liked that a lot. A very heartfelt vocal and your usual good guitar work.

I agree with the idea of putting stuff up even when you're not really looking for critiques. I like to share what I'm doing with my friends and I am curious to know what they think of it and, of course, we all learn a lot from each other. But ultimately, an artist hsa to produce his own art.....you can't do it by committee.
So on a song like this......it simply doesn't (nor should it) matter if some people might not care for a particular line. Unless they're your daughter, who cares?

Wow...
As I listened to this my 4-year old daughter walked past and I couldn't help but reach out, snatch her off her feet and give her a big hug. All lyrical critiquing aside, this is a wonderful piece of music.

I agree. There are two ways to approach writing: you do exactly what you feel or you edit yourself to try and reach as many people as possible. I have done both and I've had luck with each approach. I've had bigger success with the second method, but my favorite work has always been with the straight from the heart stuff. I keep telling myself that if something resonates with me in a universal way, then I'm not alone in the way I feel.

The overall responses I've had to this song and the last one I posted have sent me back to the first method. Lately, the songs have been pouring out of me--and its been a long time, really. I feel like I am reconnecting with something that has been missing for a while.

Comments like darwinsdoggy made really make me happy. If music can evoke those kinds of things in the world (yeah, I'm an old hippie!) then thats worth more than anything to me. Still, this rejuvenation I've recently experienced is all due to the people that come here and respond to what I do. You just don't know how grateful I am. I used to have dreams about my lost music, and it was always on these old cassettes with green labels. (Don't ask me why!) Well, I feel like I am starting to see the green tapes emerging in my reality now. It remains to be seen if any of this stuff will stand the test of time, but it sure feels good to be creating my vision again. I thank each and every one of you for that.

Crawdad,
I can't speak for everyone here, but I think the general feeling is that the pleasure is all ours! You are a talented musician and songwriter that most of us look up to.

LMFAO!!!!! :D:D:D

W.I.S.C. Thanks man! This song was not about perfection or being commercial or any of that jazz--just a heartfelt nod to my daughter. Sometimes, I like to share this kind of stuff.

bdbdbuck, limoguy--Your comments and many others helped to do something you may not ever see. Its pushed me into an area of my own music that I abandoned too many years ago in favor of pleasing the world. You reminded me that I have to please myself first. I am very grateful to you all. I am in the midst of the biggest creative surge I've had in over ten years and its because of the feedback I have received here.

Lt. Bob--hey, you KNOW how I feel! Thanks always for being my musical soulmate.

Thank you all!
