...
Hi all,
I recorded this the night before last with my pal Pete Gardiner.
He will be re-doing the vocals tomorrow, but I thought I'd see what all y'all think so far.

Don't be shy. :)

It sounds great. I think the intro goes too long before the vocal comes in (50 seconds). At first I thought it was an instrumental. I would've cut that in half. Other than that, cool!

Don't know them man. They are Pete's friends.
Cheers for the input.

Second the length of the intro. Now when the singer says, "I've go mamaries I wish you were in?" That's the bride, right? The singer is good, a little high in the mix. And I would have him change his timbre a little. It sounds like he's doing (copying) another singer that I've heard, and he's doing a good job of it? But he's really a good singer in his own right, and should do "him."

I think it's universal. It could be bride speaking to groom or vice versa.

Is 'mamaries' a stab at the accent or just a typo?

His voice (and accent)...........i know what you mean. He's always sounded like a bad impression of a bon jovi parody.
I've known the guy for about eight years and gradually coaxed him out of that, but no one will ever get him to 100% sing in his real voice.

It's a shame, I think his recorded voice now sounds great, but his real voice would definitely still sound better.
The accent isn't a problem here, but the wider audience pick up on it.

Someone on these forums actually speculated that he puts on a type of US accent that doesn't really exist.

To some extent the husky thing has become a bit of a joke. He's had a cough from it for about six years and I'm being serious....

Got ma third mix on last night.

Vocals were re recorded with a more suitable mic,
intro has cut in half and adjusted a bit,
outro has been extended with harmonies,
Few other tweaks here and there, and some more to go yet, but I think we're getting close.

Thanks for the tips so far.

re the long intro - I thought an extended intro with vocal harmonies was perfectly appropriate given the context of the song - for a wedding.

Thanks Chuck.

Not sure if you were facepalming me, the idea or the fact that you cut down the intro :-) To be honest - when I heard it was for a wedding I thought it was going to be all harmonies and was actually suprised when the lead vocal started.... I don't know where I got the idea from other than that one wedding I was in once...

It was just a tongue in cheek facepalm cos a few people said cut it down, then when i did you said you liked it longer.
No nastiness intended at all though. :)

I can see the benefits of both, but for me, the intro wasn't interesting enough to be as long as it was.

Sorry, You've just made me realise the title is misleading.
It's not a song for the wedding service or anything, It's a song that this guy has written to present to the bride and groom, like a gift in a way.

Oh then I retract everything I said - I thought it was for a service :-) I figured there was no nastiness intended as you don't seem the type -:-)
