for some reason, Sonar XL 2.0 will not recognize my audio card and won't play anything back. I moved all our files to a better computer to mix them and stuff, but it doesn't recognize the sound card. it will play music through all other programs, just not sonar. how do i change this??? thanks

What kind of soundcard? What operating system? What kind of drivers? Sonar 2.0, 2.1, or 2.2?

Sonar is usually not happy with built-in soundcards...

I have tried Sonar 2, 2.1, and 2.2 on Windows XP. The card is an SiS 7012 Wave. It's in my friend's laptop. It plays on the piece of shit we recorded onto, but it has no CD burner or way to get it off the computer (except through a network, which is what I did) and it's only 300 MhZ, whereas this laptop is 2 GhZ. I tried installing Cakewalk on my home computer but it won't recognize Direct X 9.0. We've been on 5 different computers now I think, nothing works.

There's a fix for installing Sonar with DirectX 9 on the Cakewalk website... I had a link to it, but it doesen't work anymore.

And you can forget about the SiS-card. It'll never work... BUT you can try using MME-drivers (Options -> Audio -> Advanced)

The MME drivers did not work. If anyone has a link to how to get Cakewalk On DX9, let me know, I can't find it anywhere.

Justa comment in the interest of correctness -- the drivers are provided by the sound card vendor, and sometimes they are on the Windows CD-ROMs if they have been around long enough, but they are not SONAR drivers.
