Force of Naked
Happy new year to one and all!!

Since returning from vacation, I've been using Sonar 2.1 to rework and remix a tune written by me and recorded several years ago by my band, Victims of Reality. I never felt that the original vocals really fit the tune well, and actually detracted from it. The song is about how TV desensitizes us from violence and other people's suffering, but it does *not* contain any vulgar/adult language. It is a very melodic heavy-metal/hard-rock tune, without the "death-frog" vocals or the lack of a memorable melody that plague so many metal tunes nowadays.

Please check out the original tune first, "Morbid Joys (original)" and then check out the new version, "Morbid Joys (remix)" and *please* let me know what you think.

Here's the link:

I used Sonar 2.1 to rework the vocals exclusively, to toughen them up and make them more menacing; to fit into the whole feel of the song. I also tweaked the instruments and tried to "crunch" it up more to make it more sonically interesting.

I welcome any and all questions/comments/suggestions/critiques, etc.

Thanks!!

Original - too much verb on the vox. Everything sounds like it's in separate rooms. The drums and guitar are in the basement and the vocals are out in the rocky mountains. The guitars would benefit from a better mic/mic placement. Generally the mix sounds swimmy, for lack of a better description.

Remix - significant improvement. Guitars sound more ballsy and balanced. I hate to say it, but I like the vocals better on this one :) I always prefer stuff this heavy to be more up front and not all verbed out like the original mix. Much better.

Check out another guy from this board... www.nowhereradio.com/samij/singles

You'll know him on the forum as B. Sabbath or his alias Samicide. He gets an excellent heavy sound...and I'll bet he'll dig the gits on your remix. I do too.
