Hi to all,

first of all it's great to find out a forum like this. I've been looking around for a couple of days in search of a solution for a problem occuring in my sonar 2. I've found out a topic which is discussing just the same problem but wasn't helpful enough.

The problem is that when i try to import an audio file to sonar, i receive an error message that says "out of memory". This occurs even with the different formats of the same audio file too. According to previously discussed topic it's a tag problem. Anyway i couldn't solve the error. Would anyone help me with step by step suggestions to overcome this? And also "must have" programs not to have the same problem again?

thanks a lot

I would maybe try grabbing a shareware or demo sound editor like Goldwave or Sound Forge. Import the file into it and do a SAVE-AS and make sure it is in the Windows .WAV format 16 or 24bit and 44.1kHz is preferrable.

If that is still giving you grief, make sure your partition containing the Cakewalk Projects\Audio Data folder has enough free space on it and it probably wouldn't hurt to clean out any files left over in the \Windows\Temp folder.

Ciao,

Q.

how much memory do you have on the machine, and what operating system are you using?

also, how many other programs are running while sonar is running? not just the tasks you see, but also the background tasks like instant messenger, virus scan, etc...

i've had this happen to me on a few occassions in sonar2, but it would always go away after i rebooted the PC.

Thanks for immediate answers.

I have a 256mb, win98 se, pentium 4 machine. There isn't any programs running while sonar runs and rebooting doesn't solve the problem. Also temporary folder is completely empty. Tonight i'm going to try Goldwave and Sound Forge.

thanks again

What program produced the wav file that you can't import and does your install work properly if you export one of your project files and re-import it?

Q.

I've grabbed the file using Audio Grabber and yes sonar works perfectly except this problem.
