Howdy,

I'm using Sonar with a RME HDSP 9652 and was wondering if I always had to use the stereo channel configuration where Sonar channels are alocated to RME via channel pairs, 1+2, 3+4, etc?

The "HDSP ADAT1 OUT (1+2)(1)" could be configured such that only a single HDSP ADAT-channel is associated with each ADAT instance? It seems as though only stereo pairs are accepted using the HDSP; (1+2), (3+4) etc, of each ADAT port. I would prefer to only use "HDSP ADAT1 (1) (1), HDSP ADAT1 (2) (1), etc. Single channel use with a one-to-one relation instead of 2-to-one.

I'm currently using Sonar 2.1 and will continue to read the audio applications section under '\rmeaudio.web\english\techinfo\conf' but wanted to run this past this forum in case I am looking for something that may not be possible and will always need to select a stereo 2-channel configuration and set a (1-L), (2-R) , (3-L), (4-R), ... etc scenario in my mix input/send. Please ask questions if this sounds confusing.

Thanks for reading and if you think I should share this with another thread please advise,

I'm not familiar with RME HDSP 9652. But one of my friend once use Dakota card and had the similiar question. I couldn't recall quitely what exactly he did, but I believe he used pan to handle 1-2 , 3-4 etc. to have dual mono output thru 'em. eg :

Track 1 Output RME HDSP 9652 1+2 panned to L
Track 2 Output RME HDSP 9652 1+2 panned to R

will route both track to different mono output thru single phisical stereo output. Thus you need a Y split cable (1 stereo to dual mono) to route the output to ADAT.

And since you're still using SONAR 2.1, it's a good time to update to SONAR 2.2 for free... Just go

http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/SONAR/default.asp

By updating to 2.2, you can take an advantage of ASIO driver within SONAR. It means better latency, better multi I/O audio handling.

Jaymz,

Thanks for the reply. What you discribed is exactly what I'm doing now and needed some 'other's' input to confirm this is the right approach.

Hope there are some RME HDSP 9652 users out there to add to this thread. Any comments from any knowledgable readers would be valuable.

Thanks again,

Radovic

i think thats how sonar works cuz it has the outputs to my delta 66 as stereo pairs also...where u would have to pan each hard left and hard right to actually use each output
