Hello, i've been using PA9 for two years and just upgraded to sonar. When i open my projects from pa9 in sonar the output is mono. I noticed that my track output options are something like

[A 1/2 Delta]
[B 1/2 Delta]
[C 1/2 Delta]
[D 1/2 Delta]
[E 1/2 Delta]

When i use [A 1/2 Delta] it only comes thru the left channel, when i use [B 1/2 Delta] it only comes thru the right. These tracks are in stereo. I need output coming thru in stereo (ie: [Stereo 1/2 Delta] but i don't see an option for that. Everything worked fine in PA9 but when i upgraded to win2000 and Sonar and the new multiclient delta drivers, everything sucks. Thanks in advance.

This one is a bit puzzling. First of all, Sonar uses something called "virtual" mains. You can pretty much have as many virtual Mains as you want, and each Main can be assigned to any output pair of your soundcard that you choose.

From your description, you appear to have established 5 virtual Main Outs as your default settings for Sonar (i.e., A, B, C, D and E) and they are presently all assigned to the 1/2 output pair of your soundcard. I think the Delta 44 has only 4 outputs (1/2 and 3/4). So I would start by suggesting that you change the default settings in Sonar to just two virtual Main Outs (unless you have some specific need for more).

Once you have done this, open your project and go to Console View and scroll to the far right (where your Main Outs are located). You should now see just two faders - A & B (instead of the previous 5). At the bottom of each one shows where they are assigned to. I'm guessing they will still show 1/2 as the assignment for both. Leave one of them as is, and assign the other one to 3/4 (by memory since I'm at work, I think you need to right click at the bottom of the Main Out fader and you should get a pop-up menu showing your choices).

Now you should have two Main Outs A & B, with one assigned to 1/2 output and the other assigned to 3/4.

Next you need to go to each individual Track and see where each Track has been assigned. You want to assign each track to the stereo pair (i.e., Virtual Main) that your monitoring system is connected to. In other words, if your monitoring system is connected to your Delta's 3/4 out connections, assign all your Tracks to 3/4 (vice-versa if you are monitoring from 1/2).

Make sure that you also do the same thing for any Aux Busses you have established.

I'm not sure exactly what your problem is, but I think if you do all the above it will fix it. If not, let us know. It would be helpful, though, to know how you are physically routing your outputs from the Delta.

Good luck.

Revert

Thanks for the help, now the monitoring thing makes a lot more sense, i ended up reverting to the non-multiclient drivers for the delta 44 and it solved my problem. Thanks again.
