Rock Steady
Today I spent around 5 hrs on a standard bread and beans shuffle set up for a collab with a guitar player and a brass man. I was diggin it like anything I have ever been into. I tracked a b3 soundfont that didnt sound bad but I wanted the b4 and the leslie. I inserted the b4 and routed the midi track to it, It was sweet as honey.... I saved the whole thing as a .cwb file. Now when I try to open it sonar.exe and b4.dll are in some kinda conflict and it shuts sonar down. All the work is trapped because I cant get the bundle open. I can retrack it all again without a problem, but the time loss sux.
Should I apply the b4, bounce to track and then remove it after use, or should I just not try save it in a bundle?

I don't know Sonar - can you move the dll to another folder? That's how I'd handle it in Cubase.

Is this a VSTi with a wrapper or a DXi? Not that I'd be able to give you a better answer if I knew that, I'm just wondering if you need to look at your wrapper too.

Good luck, man...

its dxi. I have it in the native instruments folder in the same path.

have fun and sleep well!!;)

I think I may have an idea. I`ll rename the b4.dll and try to run the Sonar .cwb file . Maybe it`ll open with a msg telling me it cant find the B4. then I can reset everyting with the file open, bounce to track and take B4 out before I lock the file and save it.

Thats next, unless...... someone else has a clue that might work better. I really dont wanna retrack all that stuff..

This has helped me before:
- Start Sonar
- Shold shift down
- Open the offended project while all the time. (press shift before opening the project)
- Now you can choose which effects to load. Load everything but B4.
- Restart and reload the project (don't hold down shift)

This sounds like the ticket...I`ll try it when I get home. If it works I`ll not try to save any more with the B4 as an effect. This will be lovely if it works, thanks a lot Moskus!!

Moskus, where do you get this stuff? I tried to open a file at my friend's house, but I had an updated DR008 (he did not) and it just refused to open. Could have used this post then. I will store that tidbit for the future! Thanks

It worked like a charm Moskus! It kept the B4 audio track, just didnt load the b4. THe dxi rack showed it , but as being disconnected. I just reloaded it without any pages and set the route back. That sure saved me a lot tracking.
Thanks my good fellow...

I remember now seeing the "hold the shift key while loading and select" from a post last year but I dont know if You, Dach', or James posted it.

I think I originally learned the trick from Dachay... ;)

But I have a gift: I remember useless information. And that seemed useless at the time... :D

Had the same problem this morning on
my first cakewalk thingy I ever composed and I added the NI B4 on sounded great (after hours and hours of strugling with cakewalk :) )

but this morning I tried to open sonar and he couldnt open the cwb file
furthermore Sonar Crashed ... yaaiks

looks like I have the same problem toki had ...
good to hear someone allready came up with a solution for that ...

Just hold down shift while loading the project... ;)
