Hey guys,

Looking for feedback on the above mentioned versions of Sonar. I am in the market for an upgrade, it looks like for an academic version the price difference between v6 producer and v7 producer is not too bad, so disregarding price, any specific feelings you guys have about the differences between the 2 would be appreciated.

I am currently on sonar 2.2 xl, and am doing 99% plain old audio tracking (as versus midi or synths but I am interested in getting into that down the road), and have migrated into recording some live performances as well as "studio" things.

The fact that I am still on Sonar 2 pretty much says it all about how I feel about going through the expense, learning curve, and inevitable hassle of upgrades, but I do believe its time.

Another concern is that I am currently on 2 Aardvark Q10s, and I am NOT going to be upgrading those any time in the near future, so if anyone has specific knowledge of their compatibility on Sonar 6 and/or 7, that would be appreciated as well.

Thanks,

G

I have read where others have stated that the best bang for the buck is found when you skip a version; that there isn't a big enough change to be value added. I have Producer 6 and will wait for version 8 to come out.:D

I've had every pro version since 4...IMHO, 7 has been presented the least value of the upgrades. Version 6 was very stable, and complete. Version 7 has a number of "nice to haves" and some new plug-ins but simply didn't add up. In retrospect, 6 was fine and I too should have waited to jump past 7 but, I'm a software slut.

My opinion...everyone has one, check around or consider cruizing the Cakewalk forums.

Awesome

Thanks for the replies. That is definitely the kind of info I was looking for. I will peruse the CW forums (Can't believe I didn't think of that before...I have become habituated to come here first for info, it didn't even occur to me to look there.)

Wish me luck with the compatibility with My Aark cards.

G
